Why It's Important to Take Care of Your Skin? Tips for teenagers.

Skin care is really a big deal and it's not just about the appearance!
Your skin is essential to your general health, as it is the largest organ you have.

Firstly, your skin plays an important role as it protects your body. It's like a shield, as it is a barrier that will help you keep from getting sick or having damage to your bones, muscles and internal organs.

Skin holds body fluids in, preventing dehydration and keeps harmful microbes out, as without it, we would get infections. That is why, it is important to keep drinking plenty of water (2-3 l)  especially during summer time.

Your skin is full of nerve endings that helps you feel things like heath, cold and pain. If you wouldn't feel these things, you could get badly hurst and not even know it.

Your skin keeps your body temperature even. If it's getting too hot, your blood vessels near the surface of the skin ( capillaries) enlarge to let the warm blood cool down.

Your skin makes vitamin D, thanks to the sun rays. As you might know, vitamin D us important for strong bones.

Taking care of your skin is important and below you can find tips on how to keep your skin more healthy?

1. Keep it clean

Washing your skin, especially your hands. To keep your skin from getting dry, use water that's warm and when it's itchy or dry, make sure you are using a moisturizing cream or lotion.

2. Protect your skin from the sun

Your skin produces vitamin D when it is exposed to the sunshine. However, excessive sun tanning can also damage your skin and increase risk of skin cancer, dark spots and wrinkles. Always use sun protection factor (SPF) of 30 or above. Apply it evenly, and re-apply after 4 or 5 hours.

3. Avoid tanning beds

Tanning beds don't offer a safe alternative to natural sunlight. Exposure to UV (ultraviolet light) radiation damages your skin. In fact, most tanning beds emit mainly UVA rays, which may increase the risk of melanoma which is the deadliest form of skin cancer.

To sum up, remember, everyone's skin is unique, and it's important to adapt your skincare routine to suit your specific needs. By investing time and effort into proper skincare, you can enjoy the benefits of healthier skin and a more confident, radiant you.
